Hour and half speed paint, done without a ref on Photoshop. :< Bad, Ky, bad!
Need to push the shadows. Nrgh.
(Note, drawn at 4 in the morning and inspired by Sycra's speed paint and art videos.)
I see someone has been inspired by speedpainting youtube videos.
I really like your composition. You have a really good eye for it. AND YOU HAVEN'T EVEN HAD THE RULE OF THIRDS POUNDED INTO YOU YET.
It's always nice to see where you're at without reference aid. BUT NOW I YELL AT YOU TO USE REFERENCES. THEY ARE YOUR FRIENDS.
The sternocleidomastoid area is a little wonky. That's also been pounded into our heads, for whatever reason. The proportions of the face are close, but I think the eyes are a little high, and the nose a little long.
I really dig those lips. I can't for the life of me figure out how to draw those yet. The color you used on them is great, too.
And in closing: MOAR CONTRAST. Your shapes are flat and not very well defined. Go in hard and fast with the shadows and highlights. Pick a lightsource and GO GO GO. Ever heard of chiaroscuro? OF COURSE YOU HAVE, YOU WENT TO THE SAME TWU ART CLASSES AS ME for the most part. :3 Try out some crazy contrast and work your way back.
I see what you did there on the face. It is very, very nice, and it shows that you have a feel for the planes there. Just go darker man, and try using lots of different colors in the skin. Add some purple to the shadows, the pinks to the cheaks, some yellow to the highlights, etc.
I did add purple and green to the shadows. :< I just wimped out and blended them too much. BUT GOD YES, I LOVE REFERENCES. I DON'T PAY NEARLY ENOUGH ATTENTION TO THEM THOUGH, I AM A BAD FRIEND. :<
Yeah, after I was finished I noticed the ligament to our left was f'ed up. By then I was like 'lolbedtiem'. Thank you for the crit on the face. <3<3
Rule of thirds? 8D I've been told don't ever put anything smack dab in the middle of the page.
*curls u in corner* I'm trying with the contrast! I'm (not really) trying!

That's... pretty much it. Don't put the horizon in the middle, don't bisect from the middle, don't put your focus in the middle... well, without reason, anyway.
Well, most of the critique was already said in the comments above. First, it's really lovely, and very good for a speedpaint. I like the composition. I like the shades in the BG. I like the color of her lips, and the sketchy feeling in the shadowing. The face looks very good. I'd lose that slight black outline around the lips, and give more highlights (wait, that was already said...). I also forget occasionally that reference is my best friend... but sometimes it's just so much more fun to just work from imagination, and screw proportions to hell.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

And Demy's trying to free the Datsun again.
